"Truant" is probably one of the most researched and documented Gar Woods on the planet. It is one of the finest restorations ever and its awards are extensive. Originally built for the New York boat show in 1939, it is one of only two of this model built that year. It was delivered new to Lake Tahoe the same year and has spent most of its life on this lake. It is also one of only 10, 28' Gar Woods built from the factory with the Scripps 302 V-12 engine. Fully restored in 2007, it won the coveted best of show award at the Tahoe Concours that year. In addition it won best Marque Class, best Gar Wood, best professional restoration and a 1st place. It also went on to win the ACBS best preserved boat of the year in the fall of 2007. In 2009 it was awarded best engine. It comes on a custom trailer and has numerous covers and additional gear.
